Tripoli:

 

The capital city of Libya. Sites of interest include the superb National Museum.

It’s rich in history, located in The Red Castle close to the sea in the heart of Tripoli Center.

The former Cathedral and the old town with its souk, mosques folklore museum and remnants of ancient Rome & Greek.

The Arch of Marcus Aurelius,the Church of Santa Maria,the 18th century British Consulate, the 17th century French Consulate.

 

Acacus:

 

A Unisco world Heritage Site, the Acacus region offers spectacular desert scenery and important rock art, up to 10,000 years old, that depicts both the development of human societies and the fauna that was once abundant in the Sahara, such as alligators & elephants and giraffes.

The magical colures of sun sit and rise.

 

Ptolemais:

 

Founded as a Greek mercantile city in the 3rd century BC, its important increased following the acquisition of Cyrenaica by the Romans in 96 AD.

It became the capital of the province during the 3rd century AD.

Visit the underground Cisterns, Columned Palace and the excellent small museum.

 

 

 

Cyrene:

 

The most important Greek City in North Africa

Cyrene was founded in the 7th century BC. Built on a Series of levels.

The city includes the Temple of Apollo, the Acropolis, the Agora, the Forum, the Stoat of Hermes and Heracles, the House of Jason Magnus and the Temple of Zeus.

 

Apollonia :

 

Appolonia was the port Cyrene, and remained so far more than a millennium.

The Theater is sited in a particularly picturesque location by the sea.]

Other buildings include the Eastern, Central and Western Basilicas and the Byzantine Palace.

 

 

 

Qasr Libya:

 

Site of a Byzantine church dating back to the reign of the Emperor Justinian (6th century AD).

A floor of stunning mosaic panels was discovered in 1957, the majority of which are now housed in the on-site museum.

The collection of mosaics is considered among the finest in the world.

 

Leptis Magna:

 

World famous arguably the best preserved and most extensive Roman city in the world.

Among the many sites of interest are the Severna Arch, nymphaeum, Baths, the Colonnaded Street, Forum, Basilica, Theater, Amphitheater, Temple of Liber Pater, Arch of Trajan and the Market.

The Site also houses an impressive museum.

 

Ghirza:

 

Early first millennium settlement founded by veterans of the Roman army.

Noted for its arcade temple tombs.

 

The Ubari Sand Sea:

 

The Ubari Sand Sea is a vast region of rolling sand dunes, dotted with beautiful palm-fringed oasis lakes.

It offers exciting 4WD desert travel. A must for desert lovers.

It has the dreams you only can describe.

Ghadames:

 

An attractive oasis on the edge of the Sahara desert close to the Algerian border.

The old town, now largely deserted, is renewed for its unique "marzipan" architecture and labyrinthine passages.

The town is considered the southernmost outpost of Roman times.

 

Benghazi:

 

Libya's second city famed as a military supply base during World War II.

It boasts an interesting souk as well as the monument of Omar al-Mukhtar.

 leader of the Libyan resistance against the Italian occupation.

Tobruk

 

Forever linked with the names of Rommel, Montgomery and the Desert Rats during the north Africa camping in World War II. Here you may see Rommel's headquarters and visit the Allies and German cemeteries the bear witness to the tremendous sacrifice made by both the Allied and Axis forces.

 

 

Sabratah:

 

A Roman city with a stunning 2nd century Colonnaded Theater. Other monuments include the Temple of Liber Pater, Forum, Imperial Basilica, Temple of Serapis, Curia (municipal senate house), Basilica of Justinian and Temple of Hercules.

There is a museum housing fine mosaic work.

 

 

Famous Ubari lakes:

 

Gaberoun & El Mandara & Um Almaa and Mafo located in the magnificent desert surrounded by palm trees and sand dunes 100 feet high, stretches as far as the eye can see, saltier than the Dead Sea.

 

Gharian:

 

Located at a hilltop with a fabulous landscape sites of interest include the troglodyte home which gives us a fascinating insight into a unique way of life and the local pottery craft of the region.

 

Nalut:

 

Located at a hilltop the most part inhabited by the Berber people. Sites of interest include the famous breath taking Old Castle.

 

Qasr Al Haj & Kabaw :

 

Located at top hill contain a fascinating centuries old grain and oil stores built 800 years ago.

 

Germa:

 

The door way to Acacus. A town surrounded by sand dunes. Contains a museum offer lots of superb old paintings & heritages and a mummy of small boy dated back to 600 BC. Famous for the Garmantian remains that dated back to the first millennia BC.

 

Great Libyan Sahara Desert:

 

It is one of the last real wildernesses on the planet.

It is one of the richest and most extraordinary collections of pre- historic rock- art in the world.

Scattered all over the Sahara reflect the living reality & fauna many millenniums ago

Waw Alnamus

In the middle of the Sahara, in area full of sand dunes.

Appears a calm volcano. Shares life with a group of lakes surrounded by palm trees. Lies on black rocks and sands.

A huge different colored area black,yellow,purple.
